Davhi awoke, his breath catching in his lungs. Panicked, he looked around. He was in some sort of cryonics tube. A readout on the side said 'Ethereal Regression Complete. Press button to continue.' Following the command, Davhi pressed the button, and stumbled as the tube suddenly opened and let gravity have it's way with him.

Getting up, he looked around some more. He saw metal walls, and several devices. On one of the walls was a tube much like his own. Checking the readout, he saw that it was complete as well. He looked into the tube itself, and what he saw made him gasp.

It was Stephline, the woman he thought of as his wife (Not that he would tell her), her hair floating in the tube that seemed to let the occupants defy gravity. Pressing the button, he let her fall into his arms.

The first thing she felt as she awoke was a pair of arms around her, supporting her body as she blearily started trying to find her feet. After a few tries, she managed it and started supporting her own bodyweight, even if she kept clinging to whoever had first caught her.

She looked up, blue eyes meeting intense grey. She smiled blearily before letting her head hit Davhi's chest again. The cryogenic process apparently hadn't been as kind to her, and it seemed that something had gone wrong along the way: the pale streak she used to have going through her brown hair had expanded, becoming far more visible.

She really didn't want to move from that spot, not for another few minutes at least. It felt so peaceful and calm, like whatever was going on didn't matter right now.

"Hey." Davhi said, smiling slightly. "Are you okay, Stephline?" He asked.

"Head feels like bleuh." She mumbled, blinking slowly. "You?"

"Everything is sharp." Davhi said. "Everything seems brighter, somehow. What's the last thing you remember?"

"T-The last thing?" She mumbled, eyes looking up to the ceiling as she racked her brain. "...Pain. Pain and cold. Why, what do you remember?" She asked, eyebrows furrowing as she returned her gaze to him.

'I remember seeing. . .Myself. But- Different, somehow." Davhi said, his eyebrows furrowed. "He- I- was doing something with a needle gun."

She grumbled as she started thinking again, a headache beginning to form. "And children. Two of them, twins maybe? They were sort of there and sort of not..." She sighed and looked around. "Where are we, anyway?"

Despite her moving off the subject, she was certain there was something more to the whole thing. Something just beyond her mental grasp, just grazing against her fingers.

"Space, I think." Davhi said. "I don't hear anything. Nothing at all, but the sound of our voices."

"But I feel something. It's at the edge of my mind, somehow."

"You, too?" She sighed and looked around. "Come on, we can't be the only ones here. There's all...THIS, for starters. Somebody has to of made it all." She tugged the sleeves of her overalls and pulled away from his grasp, frowning a little.

"We might as well explore, in case we find something remotely useful around here..."

"Okay," He said, reluctant to let go of Stephline. "The problem is that we don't know what any of this does. We might accidentally press the self-destruct button."

"Then we best avoid touching something, hm?" She couldn't help but smile there, a hand snaking back and grabbing his. "Who knows? Maybe we'll find somebody else in this place..."

". . .Maybe. . ." Davhi said, unsure. "Well, it couldn't hurt. Hello!?" Davhi started calling. "Anybody here?!"

Stephline sighed as silence boomed back at them, before starting towards the door. "Well, we probably should start looking if we want to explore. The floor here is kind of cold..."

She squeezed his hand happily. Being around him always seemed to cheer her up, no matter what.

Davhi, being a gentleman, opened the door for her before he realized that he might be leading her into dangerous territory. His reflexes confused with his habits and somehow he ended up on the floor.
